Apple Corps Ltd. and Subafilms Ltd., which are both owned by the Beatles, filed a lawsuit late last week in a federal court in Florida against nearly 50 online vendors. The vendors are accused of selling merchandise that bear counterfeit logos. The fake logos were allegedly applied to a range of Beatles themed products, including bed linens, apparel, pendants and backpacks and were sold on sites such as Amazon.com, Bonanza.com, eBay.com, and Etsy.com. “The natural and intended byproduct of defendants’ actions is the erosion and destruction of the goodwill associated with plaintiffs’ respective famous names and trademarks and the destruction of the legitimate market sector in which they operate,” the suit claims. Apple Corps and Subafilms are asking that each vendor be forced to stop selling the counterfeit goods and to pay damages of $2 million for each. Copyright(c) 2018 RTTNews.com.
