Mark Knopfler, the legendary frontman of Dire Straits, will not be performing with the rest of the band at this year’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony on April 14. There’s no official word as to why he won’t attend the ceremony. Mark’s brother David Knopfler, a co-founder of Dire Straits, which split up in 1995, has also revealed that he will not attend the event. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s unwillingness to pay travel costs seems to have factored into David’s decision to skip the event. Keyboardist Alan Clark has confirmed that members of the UK band will perform without the ace guitarist. “There’s a lot of conjecture on forums about whether the band is performing at the Hall of Fame, and if not why not, and who in the band are going to the ceremony,” he said and added “Myself, Guy Fletcher and John Illsley will attend the ceremony where we’ll be performing an unplugged version of ‘Telegraph Road’, with the vocal sung by Stevie Wonder.” Copyright(c) 2018 RTTNews.com.
