The Doobie Brothers recently sat down with Billboard for an interview about their upcoming shows and new music. It was the band’s agent, Mitch Rose at CAA who originally suggested that they play a full album at a show, instead of their usual mix-and-match setlist and the stars have decided to give the idea a try. “It should be quite a trip,” said Tom Johnston. “We’ve never done anything like this. I’m looking forward to it.” They are scheduled to perform a pair of their most iconic albums; 1972’s Toulouse Street and 1973’s Captain and Me in full during their upcoming shows at the Beacon Theater in NYC on November 15 and 16. “I’ve always been curious how people would react to hearing them played live in an album sequence as opposed to the way you’d normally play (the songs) live, ’cause it’s a different thing altogether listening to a record as opposed to a live performance,” continues Johnston. The band also revealed that they have been writing new songs and hope to start producing a new EP, their first in 8 years, as soon as they finish their tour. Copyright(c) 2018 RTTNews.com.
