Former Dire Straits members will embark on a U.S. Tour this September under the band name DSL Dire Straits Legacy. DSL features four members of Dire Straits – drummer Danny Cummings, saxophonist Mel Collins, keyboardist Alan Clark, and guitarist Phil Palmer – alongside Buggles’ Trevor Horn and Heartbreakers’ Steve Ferrone. Dire Straits frontman Mark Knopfler and his brother and band co-founder David Knopfler have pulled back from joining the new group. Clark and Collins said in a statement that, “The DSL Dire Straits Legacy project was born from our love and respect for the music of Dire Straits, and to bring the music to fans who have been starved of hearing it played live by the musicians who made it, for far too long.” They added that the new team of musicians is coming to the United States to play all the Dire Straits hits. They will also perform a couple of songs from new DSL album 3 Chord Trick.
