Two late members of Lynyrd Skynyrd will be inducted into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame posthumously, the Miami News-Record reports. The southern rock band guitarist Steve Gaines and his sister, backing vocalist Cassie Gaines, were killed in a plane crash at the Southern rock band’s peak in Mississippi in 1977. Lynyrd Skynyrd lead singer Ronnie Van Zant also lost his life when the band’s chartered plane crashed. Van Zant’s bodyguard Gene Odom said he will attend the function. The Gaineses will be inducted at a special event Saturday at Miami’s Coleman Theater honoring their musical talents and contributions to music history. Also on Saturday, Circle Drive in their hometown will be co-named “Gaines Drive.” Lynyrd Skynyrd, which was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2006, is currently on a farewell tour.
