Dickey Betts, a founding member of the Allman Brothers Band, is recovering after completing a successful surgery. Betts was required to undergo brain surgery on Friday, after hitting his head while playing with his dog at his home in Florida. “Dickey Betts and his family want everyone to know that his surgery was a success. The outpouring of support from all over the world has been overwhelming and amazing. We are so appreciative. Thank you all so much for your wonderful thoughts and prayers,” Dickey Betts’ website said in a statement. The guitarist was playing with his dog in the backyard of his home in Little Sarasota Bay when he slipped and hit his head on the ground, causing his skull to crack. Betts had to undergo brain surgery to reduce the swelling. After having sustained a mild stroke in August, Betts was forced to cancel his Summer tour, which had been rescheduled for this November.
