A street in Forest Hills, New York, where Steely Dan’s co-founder Walter Becker spent his childhood, has been re-named after him. The street naming ceremony, held on “Walter Becker Way” in the Forest Hills neighborhood of Queens on Sunday, was live-streamed on Facebook. The event featured guest speakers including New York City Council Member Karen Koslowitz and Howard A. Rodman, a longtime collaborator of Becker. The guitarist and vocalist died last year following a longtime battle with esophageal cancer. Speaking on the occasion, web archivist Matt Kerns said: “Walter was at once fiercely private but also soul-baring in the soul he revealed in his music.” Copyright(c) 2018 RTTNews.com.
