Frank Zappa’s surrealist film 200 Motels is being re-released as a box set and is currently available for pre-order via a PledgeMusic campaign. 200 Motels, released in 1971, was co-written and directed by Zappa and Tony Palmer and stars The Mothers of Invention, Theodore Bikel and Ringo Starr. The film attempts to portray the craziness of life on the road as a rock musician and consists of a series of unconnected nonsense vignettes interspersed with concert footage of the Mothers of Invention. 200 Motels, the first film to be shot on two-inch analog videotape then transferred to celluloid, has been remastered to DVD, with a second DVD containing extras and exclusives.
