Christie’s announced on Tuesday that they are set to auction more than 120 guitars from the personal collection of David Gilmour. The collection includes the Pink Floyd singer and songwriter’s iconic guitar, known as “The Black Strat.” The 1969 model Black Fender Stratocaster was the most identified instrument over the course of the legendary musician’s nearly 50-year long career. It was played in the recordings of landmark albums such as The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals, and The Wall. “These guitars have given so much to me, and it’s time for them to move on to other people who hopefully will find joy, and perhaps create something new.” says Gilmour in a short film by Christie’s. The solid-body electric guitar, which has an estimated price of $100,000-150,000, will be a highlight of The David Gilmour Guitar Collection to be auctioned on June 20 in New York. All proceeds from the sale will benefit charitable causes. Copyright(c) 2019 RTTNews.com. All Rights ReservedLess «
