A previously unreleased song from Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers has been shared in advance of the upcoming Petty two-disc career retrospective The Best of Everything. “For Real” is a “poignant and autobiographical” song that has not previously been released. The song was recorded in August of 2000, when Petty and the Heartbreakers went to Bill Bottrell’s studio near Mendocino California to record a new version of “Surrender.” “Didn’t do it for no magazine. Didn’t do it for no video/Never did it for no CEO/But I did it for real/Would have done it for free/I did it for me/’Cuz it was all that rang true/I did it for real/And I did it for you.” the late singer sings. The Best of Everything is set to release on March 11. It is the second posthumous Tom Petty release after the 2018 box set An American Treasure. The Best of Everything will feature hits like “Square One,” “Dreamville” and “Trailer”. Copyright(c) 2019 RTTNews.com. All Rights ReservedLess «
