Mick Jagger, whose illness resulted in The Rolling Stones postponing the North American leg of their “No Filter” tour, will undergo surgery to replace a valve in his heart, the band has confirmed. According to Rolling Stone magazine, the procedure will take place on Friday in New York and Jagger is expected to make a full recovery and return to touring this summer. The band tweeted on Saturday about its decision to postpone shows in the U.S. and Canada due to Jagger’s health. “Mick has been advised by doctors that he cannot go on tour at this time, as he needs medical treatment,” the band posted. “The doctors have advised Mick that he is expected to make a complete recovery so that he can get back on stage as soon as possible.” Jagger, who said he was “devastated” about postponing the tour, tweeted, “I will be working very hard to be back on stage as soon as I can. Once again, huge apologies to everyone.” The band was scheduled to launch its “No Filter” tour on April 20 and continue through July 29.
