Former Dio and AC/DC drummer Simon Wright recently spoke with Billboard about Dio Disciples’s upcoming month-long U.S tour featuring a hologram of late frontman Ronnie James Dio. Created by Eyellusion and titled “Dio 3.0,” the hologram is set to accompany the band as they embark upon their 17-date North American tour, which is set to kick off on May 31 at the Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall in Florida. “A lot of people never got the chance to meet Ronnie or see him play live, and this is a good way to see him. It’s not him live obviously, but it’s a good show, and it’s all about Ronnie,” said Wright, adding that “it’s done with respect and love and care.” He also said that while it was “a little strange” at first, he is beginning to become used to it as he learns to play “to a click” alongside the virtual star. “I’ve got to really concentrate on what I’m doing,” said Wright.
