Earliest known recording of U2 found

The band U2 formed in Dublin, Ireland in 1976.

The earliest known recording of their work was thought to be a performance on Irish radio at the Cork Opera House on October 22, 1979.

Until today.

A website that shares U2 news, AtU2, says there is an older recording of U2. AtU2 believes is the recording is U2’s matinee appearance at the Dandelion Market in Dublin on August 11, 1979.

A full set list of the appearance in Dublin is available on the AtU2 website.

U2 has won more Grammy Awards, 22, than any other band. It was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005.

Drummer and band co-founder Larry Mullen Jr. began what would become U2 as a teenager in Ireland in 1976.
