Elton John’s new memoir, Me, has shown itself to contain startling revelations.

He writes he nearly died following surgery a few years ago.

The latest bombshell from his book is about Queen frontman Freddie Mercury.

John writes that he spent time with Mercury late in Mercury’s life.

According to the Mirror, John writes that Mercury was nearly blind during the final two weeks of Mercury’s life.

“He was too frail to get out of bed, he was losing his sight, his body was covered in Kaposi’s sarcoma lesions, and yet he was still definitely Freddie, gossiping away, completely outrageous,” John mentions in the memoir.

Elton John provides insights into Mercury that no one else has offered publicly.

“I couldn’t work out whether he didn’t realise how close to death he was or if he knew perfectly well but was determined not to let what was happening to him stop him being himself.”

Mercury died in Nov. 1991.

The memoir hit store shelves on Oct. 15.
