I’ve got a fevah!  And It needs more COWBELL!

By Jon Smith:

Believe it or not, this April will mark the 20th anniversary of the now-famous Saturday Night Live sketch, “More Cowbell”.

The skit features a young Jimmy Fallon, and Will Ferrell, now obviously stars in their own right.  But it also features SNL’s guest host Christopher Walken.  Ferrell and Fallon, along with Chris Kattan, Chris Parnell, and Horatio Sanz take on the rolls of Blue Oyster Cult as they record “Don’t Fear The Reaper”

Walken, as famous record producer Bruce Dickinson, then gave us the phrase: “I’ve got a fever. And the only prescription is more cowbell.”

Fast forward to this week when Ferrell was on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and the two reminisced about making one of the most quoted SNL skits of all time.  Surprisingly Ferrell reveals that Walken maaaaay not share their fond memories.

“Here’s the crazy thing. I go to see Christopher Walken years later, in a play. I say hello to him backstage and he’s like, ‘You know, you’ve ruined my life,'” Ferrell then does a spot-on impersonation of Walken; “‘People during curtain call bring cowbells. The other day I went for Italian food for lunch, and the waiter asked if I wanted more cowbell with my pasta bolognese.'”
