Do you see the resemblance between Nicolas Cage and Joe Exotic? You know, the dude from the Netflix series Tiger King who runs a tiger zoo from his property in Oklahoma? Well, Nicolas Cage has been tapped to play the tiger tamer in a new limited TV series currently in the works.

The eight-episode series is inspired by the Texas Monthly article “Joe Exotic: A Dark Journey Into the World of a Man Gone Wild,” by Leif Reigstad. The article is a deep dive into the life of Joe Exotic and the man previously known as Joe Shreibvogel.

Reigstad’s article was optioned by showrunner Dan Lagana and Make Good Content’s Paul Young in June 2019.

So, when it’s released, what are you getting yourself into? That’s to be determined… How could you predict the twists and turns of a man like Joe?

However, the description of the series reads: “The story centers around Joe Shreibvogel, an eccentric, exotic zookeeper in Oklahoma who fights to keep his park — even at the risk of losing his sanity. The series will live in the lion’s den with Joe, explore how he became Joe Exotic, and how he lost himself to a character of his own creation.”

Can you picture Nicolas Cage as Joe Exotic after that little rundown?

CBS TV Studios and a few other entertainment companies are behind the project. Nicolas Cage will also be the executive producer of the show.
