How Social Media Is Hurting Sports

Tennessee tried to hire Greg Schiano (Rutgers, Penn State, Tampa Bay, Ohio State) as head coach.  The students freaked out and accused him of covering up Jerry Sandusky’s crimes.  

Helmets Off host Scott Mitchell talks about how Tennesse should not have bowed to student demands.  Social media is killing aspects of our society.  

There’s something similar with Roy Moore, candidate for US Senate from Alabama.  The allegations are different, but they’re still just allegations.  Is it right to end people’s careers over things like this?

Scott also talks about Sam Darnold (USC) who is a probably first round draft pick into the NFL.  Social media is spreading the rumor that he wants to skip the draft because he doesn’t want to go to the Cleveland Browns who is the last place team and will probably get the first round pick.  Is it true?  Who knows.  But social media is making it a very big deal.
