Protests

On this episode of the Voices of Reason podcast, Amy Donaldson and Jasen Lee discuss the waves of protests that have erupted across the country. From women’s rights, to Standing Rock and the Dakota Access Pipeline, to the travel and immigration bans issued by the Trump administration, Americans are exercising their rights of free speech every week.

Even members of Congress in Washington, D.C. are demonstrating in opposition to many of President Trump’s cabinet nominees. Sen. Elizabeth Warren led a protest against Jeff Sessions nomination as Attorney General and Democrats voiced strong opposition against Betsy DeVos’ nomination as Education Secretary. Though each was eventually confirmed, lawmakers made their voices heard in a way that has garnered the attention of people nationwide.

What is prompting so much passion just a few weeks into the new administration? Will the protests effect change? How long with the demonstrations continue? Listen as we break it down.
