The Who guitarist Pete Townshend says that he rejected offers from Morrissey to record two albums, following the latter’s departure from the Smiths. Speaking with Q, Townshend says Moz sent him a letter asking “Will you produce an album for me?” But Pete says, although he “really loves the Smiths,” he said no. “I did say to [Who manager] Bill Curbishley, I really love the Smiths – if I could replace Johnny Marr in the picture there, we might get a really great album.” Last month, Townshend told MOJO that the Who “will stop after this year,” while pointing out that he’d still like to “do odd things” with Roger Daltrey on occasion. “I hope that one day I can write him an album of songs that suit him and the record company won’t demand that we call it the f-ing Who, but I’ve got a bad feeling about it.” Copyright(c) 2015 RTTNews.com.
