David Bowie has released the ten-minute video for “Blackstar,” the title track from his upcoming record. The vid, directed by Johan Renck (Breaking Bad), is set in outer space, and features a host of creepy elements. Those elements include a young woman walking the ruins of an old city, a bejeweled skull, men convulsing/dancing to the beat of a drummer, people crucified on scarecrow posts and, finally, Bowie himself, holding a black star-adorned book and staring into the sky. According to Ultimate Classic Rock, the cut features “tricky (and kinda jazz) drum patterns mingling with some squawking saxophones and, in the song’s second half, underground pop sounds.” The Daily Mail notes that Blackstar, Bowie’s 26th studio album, was recorded with a group of jazz musicians at NYC’s Magic Shop studio. The LP marks Bowie’s first studio release since 2013’s The Next Day. Blackstar will be released via Columbia Records on his 69th birthday, January 8, 2016. Copyright(c) 2015 RTTNews.com.
