Eagles’ Joe Walsh recently performed “Rocky Mountain Way” on Conan, according to the late night host’s website. The rocker also told the story behind the 1973 song while being interviewed by Conan O’Brien on the program. “There I was, mowing the lawn in Boulder, Colorado,” Walsh told O’Brien. “I looked up and saw the mountains and the back range and I thought, ‘This is better than the way I had.'” He later added, “And I got the words; I mean all at once. So I ran in the house to write the words down, but the lawnmower kept going . . . over into the neighbor lady’s garden.
