U2 is reportedly the target of a new copyright lawsuit which claims that they may have plagiarized parts of Achtung Baby. The suit has been filed in a New York City court by songwriter Paul Rose, who claims that the U2 hit “The Fly” is knocked off of his own track “Nae Slappin.” Rose is claiming that the band heard portions of his demo tape after they signed with Island Records in the 1980s. He is reportedly claiming around $5 million in damages in the suit. Thus far the band has issued no statement about the lawsuit. The band’s manager Willie Williams recently opened up about their plans for their forthcoming Joshua Tree anniversary tour: “We’re aware the album is only an hour long and the show needs to be longer than that, so how do you place it in the show? How do you make it work? Do you play it continuously? Do you disperse it with other works? All those things are still being decided, really, to be honest.” Copyright(c) 2017 RTTNews.com.
