The piece will be crafted by sculptor Mark Richards and funding was raised through private donations of the citizens within the small community near Birmingham. “How absolutely thrilled I am that this is happening in Redditch,” said his sister Deborah. “We just got planning permission, so I’m absolutely thrilled; we’re going to have a John Bonham memorial – brilliant.” John Paul Jones also recently spoke about Bonham’s legendarily heavy drumming and said it should never be mistaken for a lack of subtlety: “He wasn’t musically out of control in any way,” he said. “He knew just what he was doing.
