The Cars have announced plans to re-release 1981’s Shake It Up and 1984’s Heartbeat City. Both albums will be released on new remastered CD and digital editions as well as double vinyl collections with new liner notes by Rolling Stone critic David Fricke. The rereleases come at an exciting time for the band, who were recently named Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees. Ric Ocasek says they are likely to perform with their original lineup at the induction ceremony: “We probably will,” Ocasek told Rolling Stone. “I don’t know in which way we will. I’ve been thinking about that a bit since it came up. There’s all kinds of different scenarios we could do.
