John Mellencamp has signed on for a headlining performance at this year’s upcoming Canadian Music Week. The event is set to take place in Toronto between May 1 and 10 and this year will bring over 1,000 acts to more than 60 venues throughout the city. This year John joins an impressive list of headliners set for the event including Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Scott Weiland and the Jesus and Mary Chain. The latter will celebrate the 30th anniversary of their classic release Psychocandy during the fest. “Psychocandy was meant to be a kick in the teeth to all of those who stood in our way at the time, which was practically the whole music industry,” vocalist and guitarist Jim Reid said in a statement. “In 1985, there were a great many people who predicted no more than a six-month lifespan for the Mary Chain.” Copyright(c) 2015 RTTNews.com.
