Ahead of a charity event he was set to host over the weekend, Gene Simmons spoke with Billboard about his strategy for giving back. The KISS star was raising money through a charity event at the Lucky Strike in Hollywood. He and actor Johnny Depp were on the bill, both for bowling and for an all-star jam meant to raise money for an organization called Mending Kids. Simmons told Billboard that low overhead is one of his criteria for picking a cause. “The most important thing is that most of the money goes to help make a difference,” Simmons told the magazine when asked how he picks an organization to support. “The lean, mean organizations that don’t have a high overhead means that more of the money gets to help people. Children are my soft spot, actually.” Mending Kids uses its donations to pay for doctors to travel around the world to perform operations on kids who need help. Copyright(c) 2015 RTTNews.com.
