In its first week on U.S. charts, Blackstar moved 181,000 equivalent album units in the U.S, according to Nielsen Music. The LP is the first posthumous number one album since Michael Jackson’s This Is It debuted atop the list in 2009. Blackstar was released on January 8, Bowie’s 69th birthday.
