It’s finally Fall, and this season there really is nothing better to do in your new Volkswagen Tiguan than to grab the whole family (yeah you can fit up to 7 people in there) and get out for some fall fun! Here are 5 fun fall family friendly activities you can do this season.
Take A Fall Hike
Autumn is an amazing time of year to go out and take a hike. Bonanza’s Abandoned Mine Trail Loop is a fun moderate hike to take just South of Park City. The coolest part is that you get to see some of the old abandoned silver mines that dot the area around Park City. Park City was built on mining, and you get to see some of these historic mines on the trail. One of the amazing things you can see is the old Silver King Mine. One of the largest in Park City when mining was still happening in the area, and at the time one of the richest in the country.
Bonanza’s Abandoned Mine Trail Loop is a privately owned trail. Dogs, families, and mountain bikers are all allowed on the path.
Take an Amazing Drive
With the leaves changing color around the state this is a beautiful time to go see what this state has to offer. The colors are some of the most vibrant you will see in any part of the country. In a recent post on 103.5 The Arrow’s website, we talked about how amazing the Alpine Loop is, but this area is famous for the beautiful fall colors it has every year. The Alpine Loop Scenic Byway runs between American Fork Canyon behind Mount Timpanogos. It then passes the Sundance resort and connects to Provo Canyon.
The Alpine Loop isn’t the only place to take a drive this autumn. The Ogden River Scenic Byway is east of Ogden. You’ll drive through Ogden canyon for 44 miles to the eastern edge of the Wasatch-Cache National Forest. The video above shows some of the amazing sights you could see along this route. Go To A Pumpkin Patch
If you haven’t been to a pumpkin patch before, you’re missing out. There are multiple pumpkin patches around the state. And many patches are not much more than a 20-minute drive outside of any major Utah city. You can find a comprehensive list of what’s around the Salt Lake Area HERE. Along with being able to see these gourds actually grown, you also have the ability to pick them yourself. Plus, many of these patches offer wagon rides as well where they will take you out in the field, you pick your pumpkin, then bring it back safely in the comfort of the wagon.
See a Scarecrow
This year check out the Thanksgiving Point Scarecrow Festival. Every year in the Ashton Gardens businesses and local residents both put together their own scarecrows, and the public gets to vote on the one they like the best. The grand prize winner wins prizes of up to $500 in value. Plus, you get a chance to try your hand at creating the best scarecrow that you can display proudly. Come for the scarecrows, stay for the market with local vendors from around the state.

Of course, this is going to depend on how scary you want it, and if the little kids are coming along too. For a family with younger kids, check out This is the Place Heritage Park for Little Haunts where your kids can listen to the Story Telling Witch, take a pony ride or a train ride, make their own crafts, and even go trick-or-treating. Or check out the Leonardo for Spooky Science where little ones can learn while they get spooked. Don’t worry, this exhibit is for big kids and adult kids too.
For a bigger fright and for the older kids in the family, Fear Factory is great! It’s been voted as one of the scariest haunted houses in the country by the Travel Channel so you are guaranteed to walk away from there trembling a little bit. Built into an old closed down cement factory, Fear Factory will check the spooky marks on any thrill seeker’s list, including the terrifying zipline.
