In a hole in the ground, there lived a hobbit–and the hobbit could be you! A couple in North Carolina is constructing a hobbit home straight from the ‘Lord of the Rings’ movies.
Your unexpected journey begins in an 800-square-foot house about 90% underground. And from the moment you walk through the hobbit door, you’re transported to Middle Earth.
The hobbit home’s real treasure is the handmade mahogany door.

When you open the front door, you get a gleaming view of Mount Doom.
Mike Parrish, the owner of the house, told WLOS he hopes to create an “area where people can come and bring their kids and just leave with an unforgettable experience.”
While there is a handful of ‘Lord of the Rings’ inspired Airbnbs throughout the world, Parrish hopes to “rule them all.”
“We’re coming up with what we hope will be the coolest hobbit home on the East Coast,” Parrish said.
The hobbit home is expected to be completed in about two months. Parrish and his wife aren’t sure how much they plan on renting the home.
