Let the music of 2020 commence! We’re kicking off the new year with a new Ozzy Osbourne track from his upcoming album Ordinary Man. Any guess on the title of the single? That’s right, the first track on the album is also called… ‘Ordinary Man.’ The newest track features not only Ozzy, but the legends themselves, Elton John and Slash!

The song is a little softer. And everything you love about all three musicians beautifully collaborates into one song. Ozzy’s lyrics are transformative and reflective. Elton John’s piano skills are soulful. Slash’s guitar riffs give the song the classic rock feel while mind-boggling listeners.

Ozzy begins the song with deep acknowledgment of his past and what he can make of the present.

I was unprepared for fame
Then everybody knew my name
No more lonely nights, it’s all for you
I have traveled many miles
I’ve seen tears and I’ve seen smiles
Just remember that it’s all for you

After a few verses, Elton John joins Ozzy and gives a little insight of hope mixed with rationalization.

Many times I’ve lost control
They tried to kill my rock ‘n’ roll
Just remember I’m still here for you
I don’t wanna say goodbye
When I do, you’ll be alright
After all, I did it all for you

This is just the first song on Ozzy’s upcoming album. ‘Ordinary Man’  is a sneak peek and a beautiful first single. And while the lyrics are captivating, it’s the production of the single that really hits home for me. In the last 20 seconds of the song, a full orchestra has a solo, and it gives the tune a significant punch of impact.

The album was recorded after Ozzy openly admitting his struggle with depression brought on by not being able to create music. He stepped back most of 2019 to handle some medical issues. And now he’s back, and obviously feeling better than ever.
