Kurt Cobain’s guitar is going up for auction soon. The guitar Kurt Cobain played in MTV’s Unplugged is expected to sell for at least $1 Million at the auction.

For Nirvana fans, Kurt Cobain’s guitar holds a great deal of sentiment — the band’s legendary MTV Unplugged live taping at Sony Music Studios in New York City marked one of Cobain’s last performances ever.

“This important guitar has earned its rightful place in Rock ‘N’ Roll history as the instrument played by one of rock’s most influential musicians and icons in one of the greatest and most memorable live performances of all time,” said Darren Julien, President of Julien’s Auctions, in a press release.

This rare D-18E guitar has a massive history of its own. It belongs in the right hands of an aspiring rock artist or in the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame.

Even without the fame of its former owners, the guitar is one of only 302 D-18Es made by the Martin Guitar company.

“Cobain’s own guitar should sell for a lot more than $500,000 — bidding is expected to start at $1 million”, Julien’s said in the statement.
