The guitar God Eddie Van Halen is dead at 65 due to cancer. As first reported by TMZ, Van Halen lost his long battle with throat cancer.

The founder of Van Halen’s son wrote in a Tweet that he was the best father he could have ever had.

Van Halen is a legend. He pulled out riffs and songs that no one thought possible until he made it possible.

“Eddie put the smile back in rock guitar at a time when it was all getting a bit broody,” his fellow guitar ace Joe Satriani told Billboard magazine in 2015. “He also scared the hell out of a million guitarists because he was so damn good.”

The famed guitarist started his career young, only in 1972. He took the meaning of a musician to a whole new level after creating three guitar models. In 2012, Guitar World Magazine recognized Van Halen as the No. 1 on its list of the “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time.”
