Helping Utah Teens Race Towards Mental Health
Utah's young population is hurting. One Youth Risk Behavior survey showed that 41% of teenagers in Utah felt hopeless or sad and that 22.5% had contemplated suicide. Recent public affairs campaigns have encouraged parents to talk supportively with their children about mental health and to ask them directly if they had thought about harming themselves. But, Utah communities can do more. In this episode of Utah Weekly Forum, Jurassic Street Tacos COO Jorge Garcia joins FM100.3 Host Rebecca Cressman to explain how his restaurants have partnered with Run13 and other local businesses, foundations, and healthcare providers to create a series of races and events at Utah County schools focused on mental health, mental resilience, and community support.
